• The special issue of European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology with the most important contributions to the "2nd Workshop on Fats and Oils as Renewable Feedstock for the Chemical Industry" which was coorganized by the FNR and sponsored by the BMELV in 2009 has just been published on-line. • German Society of Fat Science (DGF) awarded Normann medal to J.O. Metzger on the occasion of  the 7th Euro Fed Lipid Congress, 18.-21. Oktober 2009, Graz, Austria. J. O. Metzger gave the DGF Normann Medal Lecture on "Fats and oils as renewable feedstock for chemistry.
